Poems for my mother

Mother’s Day in Guatemala is celebrated on May 10. But they way I see it, every day is the perfect day to honor mom.

I wish I could write a nice poem and stop being so aleatory

and I wish I had the gift of verse so that could write a better story,

but to talk about you means I need to go on forever

and I only managed to put some lines together

This is my effort to make the best rhyme

But I think I have managed to make these lines sublime.

As every word comes from deep within my heart

and I hope one day I will get good in this kind of art.

Before I begin I want to express how grateful I am

To be the daughter of such graceful madam.

Your eyes always say “don’t worry, I care”

And you sweet smile tell me “I am always there”.

I hope I am not wandering astray

but there are two poems I bring you today

so, without any further delay

let me start what I am here to say.

The One

You are the one who sang me songs and read me stories that gave me a spark.

You are the one who keeps the candle lit if I start to tremble in the dark.

You are the one who picks up the fallen leaves that my autumn left.

You are the one who clears my cloud of doubts when I am bereft.

You are the one who transcribes my nonsense worries into laughter

And I am the one whom with love you have always look after.

My Pale Moon

Pale, beautiful and delicate like a Lily’s white

But sturdy and flawless as a diamond with bright

The world is beautify with your presence

having you near is an angelical blessing

Still, these things are not sufficient

That is why I am choosing something omniscient

Like a mystical pale moon, this is how you appear before my eyes,

I tell you from my heart, it is not just a simple appraise.

loving and faithful and of loveliest hue

these are only some of the things that I see in you

Timeless, admirable wisdom and grace

There is nothing of you that I wish to erase

You know how the moonlight breaks upon the city’s dome

and fall along cemented steel and stones?

a simple spark changes the lugubrious monotone

of the grayness that being afar invades my home.

that is why joy end excitement sit next to me when I get your call

And you appear int he screen of the iPad like a blue dress doll.

More than that, you are my pale silver moon that tucks me at night

the one who conforts and inpires me with its bright moonlight.

The kind of light that can only come from the sky

and it comes down to my cheek gliding with its graceful fly

so at that moment I close my eyes and I iamgine I am a star

cause I know it is you who I see in the moon from afar.

Before I finish I need to say

than I admire without dismay

and not only for today

I wish you a happy Mother’s day

I hope you enjoyed my poems.

Above anything else, I treasure my mother.

And everyday passing day I kneel down and be thankful to  have her with me.

I love you mom!
